Family fun on Sanibel/Captiva
islands
 Sanibel and Captiva islands have
many activities for the entire family including the
J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
The
refuge at Tarpon Bay (239-472-8900) offers:

trail.

Bird Watching:
Wildlife Drive in J.N. "Ding" Darling National
Wildlife Refuge is the most popular place on the islands for watching tall
wading birds. he drive is paved, four-mile, one-way road on a dike built in
the 1960s as a mosquito-control structure. The dike forms two tidal
impoundments, east and west, and these are the areas where wading birds,
shorebirds, and waterfowl come to feed. There are a number of other places
for bird watching. The interior wetlands are lovely places to walk, either
early in the day or toward sunset. Center Tract at the Sanibel-Captiva
Conservation Foundation, the Bailey Tract, and Sanibel Gardens Preserve all
have good walking trails for birdwatchers.
Boating Rentals
and Charters: Go on a sport fishing trip, a
few-hours to an all-day charter, or a magical sunset cruise.
Wildlife: Sanibel and Captiva
Islands has large variety of Florida wildlife including birds, alligators
and dolphins. The islands provide a nature vacation for the entire family
from the avid nature lover to the budding naturalist.

located at the Sanibel School on Sanibel-Captiva Road. Available to the
public for no charge. 239-472-0345.

available 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday for basketball and
weight training.

through 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00
PM.

pick-up games in early evening. Gymnasium available Weekday 10:00 AM to
8:00 PM.

Fields available when leagues are not playing.
